The Mayor of Bingham
Letter from your Mayor
"Firstly, I wish
to thank my fellow Town Councillors for electing me as Mayor of
Bingham Town Council for the civic year 2006/2007. I look forward
to working with them in pursuing and defending the interests of
Bingham.
I also look forward to
representing Bingham and the Town Council at various events throughout
my term within Bingham and beyond. Our small market town has a vibrant
and caring community, with a great variety of voluntary groups,
special interest clubs and local branches of national institutions.
My wife, Sharyn and I hope to meet as many of you as possible who
add to this unique aspect of Bingham making it such a great place
to live.
For the Mayor's Charity,
I have chosen to support the Bingham Tape Scheme. This local
charity is a group of volunteers who create audio tapes of local
news and information to those who are visually-impaired or house-bound;
approximately five hundred local residents benefit from this worthy
project. The charity has set itself a tough target to raise £8,000
and convert its service from analogue recordings to digital. Bingham
Town Council recently agreed to provide a grant of £1,000
towards this appeal.
With very best wishes,
Cllr Francis Purdue-Horan,
Town Mayor
