Celebrating 40 Years of Twinned Friendship

The Town Council were delighted to host a Civic Reception to welcome Jens Korn, the Burgermeister from our Twinned Town of Wallenfels and guests to mark 40 years of Twinned Friendship.

Members of the Twinning Associations and hosts attended the reception, and entertainment was provided by the talented Thomas Markwick of Bingham.

The Mayor, Cllr Gareth Williams welcomed Jens Korn to the stage to present gifts to mark the 40 Years. Jens then presented a Rafters Hook to the Town Council and Chair of Twinning, Judith Swann, which will be displayed at the Old Court House.

Bingham had the pleasure of welcoming the Wallenfels band to the Thursday market, before the main event of the Beer Festival which was held on Friday 06 and Saturday 07 September.

The Mayor, Cllr Gareth Williams said “As a long-standing member of the Twinning Association I was delighted to welcome over 30 visitors to Bingham from our Twinned Town of Wallenfels. I would like to thank the Burgermeister, Jens Korn and all of our friends who visited the Town for their music, and friendship. I would also like to thank the Twinning Association for their dedication to maintaining our bond with Wallenfels and to the hosts that make our guests welcome in their homes”.

Chair of Twinning, Judith Swann said “We had a really good weekend with our friends from Wallenfels. Our Bavarian Beer Festival was very successful and many from the community attended. We sincerely thank The Town Council for hosting a Civic Reception to mark 40years of Twinning which was appreciated and enjoyed by all”

Community Consultation – Cogley Lane

Merchant Navy Day – 03 September 2024

The Town Council raised the Red Ensign Flag on the Old Court House to mark Merchant Navy Day. The Town Mayor, Councillor Gareth Williams, was joined by Deputy Lieutenant of Nottinghamshire, Judith Swann, Bingham Town Councillors, members of the Royal British Legion (Bingham Branch) and residents. The flag was raised in recognition of the contribution that our merchant ships and crews have given our country in two world wars and the years following.
